This year I approached Neo-Con with a more clear head. Making appointments and scheduling out companies is a much neater approach to seeing design. I am Excited about our chair project at Salem college and will be writing more about the chair library there later but the research I am doing here at Neo-Con will be available on the new website.
I wanted to get a quick preview of how market is here, especially for those friends that cannot make it to Chicago. The convention is not the size of High Point or Dallas, concentrates more on furnishings than Atlanta and directed at modern installations unlike ICFF but my experiences over the past year have allowed me to see this market more for what it is.
Neo-Con is a High Energy, intense convention with innovation and exploration at the forefront. The big box companies that are stuck in the box need not apply. Products, textiles, displays, technologies and people are up to date and using everything they have to be noticed. Here are a few shots from my first day here.
