I was watching American Pickers while working on Patrick’s Library project and they mentioned a Knoll Strap chair. I had seen a similar concept from Phillips at the Phillips High Point Furniture Market so I had to check it out. Seems that Jens Risom made a Lounge chair similar in concept to the old folding chairs but out of wood and more stable strap material. Woven interlocking pattern of solid Parachute straps on a Birch frame. The chair showcased around 1943 and is still produced by Knoll®.

Chair CardsThis blog was started to track the exceptional work by the students of UNCG in the Interior Architectural Design Program. Our History 221 and 222 classes use these cards to help familiarize us with historically significant design and designers. The initial purpose is for the students, however, it will remain for comments and use by anyone interested in design. - Brian - BSPeck@uncg.edu
