Walking through the Market in Atlanta I was overwhelmed by the amount of “stuff” there was. I was expecting a furniture market and what I found was floors of extras and accessories. One of the familiar showrooms caught my attention from the hallway. I have been looking at design from a perspective of creating something new but we always discuss how design flows from somewhere. I saw this chair, raw but comfortable, elegant yet structured. The idea of the metal and leather coexisting puts me in mind of a P-51 mustang or a Lockheed Electra. The Electra has all the lines and beauty of Marc Newson’s Lockheed Lounge. The three images below show my flow from the beautiful Electra to the raw but comfortable Hot Dog Chair. I enjoyed seeing Halo at the Atlanta show and look forward to seeing them in High Point.

Chair CardsThis blog was started to track the exceptional work by the students of UNCG in the Interior Architectural Design Program. Our History 221 and 222 classes use these cards to help familiarize us with historically significant design and designers. The initial purpose is for the students, however, it will remain for comments and use by anyone interested in design. - Brian - BSPeck@uncg.edu
