Some of this week’s students put a lot of hard work into their art and I felt I should post their works here. This is Michael Thonet’s Chair no. 14. A simple chair, composed of 6 pieces and a seat shows that good design need not be complicated. The bent wood chair is still mass manufactured using steam and molds as it was nearly 200 years ago.

Chair CardsThis blog was started to track the exceptional work by the students of UNCG in the Interior Architectural Design Program. Our History 221 and 222 classes use these cards to help familiarize us with historically significant design and designers. The initial purpose is for the students, however, it will remain for comments and use by anyone interested in design. - Brian - BSPeck@uncg.edu
