I ran across this designer while reading a book I picked up over Christmas break. There are few mentions of his successes because his career was cut short by heart failure on his 41st birthday. This chair caught my eye because of the name. In Italian, Supperleggera, means super light, so the name is carried by more than one chair, wallets, and even a Lamborghini. His Superleggera’s name was changed later to the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) because of it’s similarities. Chair stories just get deeper and deeper. Research what you can about a subject and see how many places it takes you.

Chair CardsThis blog was started to track the exceptional work by the students of UNCG in the Interior Architectural Design Program. Our History 221 and 222 classes use these cards to help familiarize us with historically significant design and designers. The initial purpose is for the students, however, it will remain for comments and use by anyone interested in design. - Brian - BSPeck@uncg.edu
