Berlin Chair (Gerrit Rietveld)

In 1923 Rietveld created his first asymmetrical chair.  The palate of black white and grey serves to accent the accomplishment of diversity from the norm.  The chair was an accompaniment to an entire room designed in Berlin for the Juryfreie Kunsthau Art Exhibit.  His Red and Blue chair followed with a similar wood frame-like construction and was originally in plain wood.

I personally love this chair from a studio perspective.  I can see our instructors giving us directions to build a piece using only plains and no two pieces can be duplicated.  I know if my instructors are reading this they are nodding their heads.
