ono chair Matthias Weber

This simple unadorned chair is a great example of less is more.   Functionality, lightweight, stackable, simple to build and timeless shape.  So much so that the architecture firm of Hofman Dujardin (Netherlands) created this as an entry in a contest to recreate the ono chair.  Benefits from the project were donated to the Langa township of Cape Town.

I once heard Nido Qubein of High Point University say a quote that applies here… “That’s not just thinking outside of the box.  That’s taking the box and throwing it out of  the window.”

That is so amazing. Does it have any other purpose than sculpture?

The chair itself is an actual wooden chair… the two pictures of the city are studio designs for a competition. Not actually built…
