Herman Miller produced George Nelson’s “Delightful” Coconut chair in 1955. The design still holds weight showing true “Firmness” in design. The iconic shape is still for sale for nearly $4000 per chair showing the obvious “Commodity” portion of our equation. Three excellent renditions of George Nelson’s Coconut Chair. Each of our three artists take a different route to show their artistic path while staying true to the form.

Chair CardsThis blog was started to track the exceptional work by the students of UNCG in the Interior Architectural Design Program. Our History 221 and 222 classes use these cards to help familiarize us with historically significant design and designers. The initial purpose is for the students, however, it will remain for comments and use by anyone interested in design. - Brian - BSPeck@uncg.edu
